stage photos released

Got some pictures of mine from last symposium's committee~~ All so nice

Some told that I looked so young, even younger than 27yrs old when I was in stage. Well done, me !

With my Singaporean colleague dentists. Awesome Dr. Yue and Dr. Mok. It was a very nice chit-chat during cocktail session. Shared a lot with Dr. Yue about TMD and yes he's right, we'll always talk about TMD, everytime, everywhere. And thanks for your life wisdom words also. Will noted, noted, noted

Indonesian dentists rocks !!! I learnt a lot from my seniors also. Dentistry is our passion. No doubt !

south east asia invisalign event

I used to take this airline on my every Singapore trips before we have Air Asia. I tried Air Asia last time, but still, China Airlines is the best for me. It's very worth my favourite airline. Well, the way back timing is so lousy, I reached Surabaya last night at 23.30, but still.... compared with all of their facilities, I am still in love with China Airlines.

Was very exciting to be back in speech. And meet awesome colleague dentists there.

Changi. From here, I just take 50 minutes walk + MRT to reach Mandarin Hotel Orchard for symposium. It's not a big deal. I will not die because of that.

I can't wait for official pictures from the South East Asia committee... For now, I just upload some pics (and selfies) from my camera

So, Joyce told me that there will be around 10 dentists will give speech and presentation about their cases. But one by one were not confident enough to come in stage. So, in the end, only Dr. Tan and I who presented cases. And Dr. Tan presented from her seat, so officially, only me who presented from stage. It's not a big deal though. Go go Indonesia !!!

This is a very good event and symposium. The G5 launching itself was very informative, and the case sharing went great, and I got a lot of precious knowledge from my colleagues during the break sessions.

After G5 launching, arranged to meet up with my good good friends. Its a nice dinner and chit chat with the newlywed Evan-Inggrid, and also Licu and engkong Andrew. Thanks buddies for your accompanions. During my hectic schedule, all of you still come for me. Thank you in a bunch !

I got also a nice roomate, Dr. Rita from Indonesia. Just figured out that she's a famous singer too. So, she works as a dentist and a singer too. We were coming from different generations. But she shared a lot about life and love to me. I can say that she's not too 'clinician'. Well, it's okay for me haha... Dental seminar doesn't mean that we will always talk about work and work, rite ? Good intermezzo as bedtime story with her.

A very nice breakfast and lunch treat from Mandarin Orchard Hotel. Thanks my committees for your last time's treat for me. It's really a wrap !

These are my favourites. Vegetables with camembert cheese, half done sunny side egg, ham, bread, pork sausage, tom yam soup, and of course.... pancake with maple syrup ! Drink milk and cranberry juice. Something nice about this pancake is..... the maple syrup. The syrup is sooooo fragrant and nice. If I try to make it myself, it can't be as nice as this one.

The symposium itself is really really a wrap for me. I can meet great dentists in south east asia region. And of course, learn a lot too. I sit beside one of most famous dentist in Jakarta, and she taught me a lot lot lot about dentistry since her age is 3x of my age.... She was so well experienced in dentistry. Can't wait to meet you again, Dr. Hilly !

Here we are, a good friend of mine, Dr. Jerry. If I'm not mistaken, now he's still being the president of CGDP Singapore. And his clinic in Singapore with Dr. Ronnie is soooooo awesome. Will catch up later on IDEM meeting soon, Jerry !

These are Dr. Peterpan and Dr. Mos from Bangkok. OMG, their Thai names are just way too difficult to spell. So I called him Peterpan instead of Puttaporn, and called her Mos, instead of her very difficult Thai name. Awesome discussions about sleep apnea and snoring treatment with them. Keep in touch through line, buddies. Will catch up to your clinic when I go to Bangkok. Don't know when, hehe... Hopefully I can join the summit on June so I can meet both of you again.

And daddy Ken !! Can you believe that his age is twice of my age and he's still looked sooooo young. It's very very great to meet up with you again daddy Ken. Since our last meet in Ogilvy meeting, he looked even younger. Should ask for his secrets. Will catch up soon with you on IDEM meeting.

Took picture also with Dr. Sandra from Canada, the main speaker of this event. Adored her for her very valuable lecture and nice speech. I believe that become a speaker, is a talent. Because not all clinicians were meant to speak on stage. But she is one of those dentists who have talent in public speaking.

Below, introduced you Dr. Ade. She is an expert in TMD and sleep apnea. Had a lot of fun discussion about TMD treatment with this smart dentist. She loved to learn and learn, just like I do. Even i am 16 years younger than her, i think you cant notice it from her look. Yes, she is still looked so young! I must admit, that the most fun part of being a dentist is, once you have a big passion on dentistry, you will enjoy your life and will looked forever young. Just like all of my seniors in these photos.

Sonnenblumes. My favourite. Found out in one corner of changi terminal 2. Spent 4 hours at airport before my flight. Didnt intend to go anywhere since im also too tired. So i just take a small walk around airport while waiting for my 10pm flight.

time to get back to business. Had a lot of insights, inputs, and shares from other dentists. Felt so ready and confident to be back in my clinic again.

chinese ?

An italian client walked into my office this morning....

Client : "Hello doctor. Please don't speak English to me. I don't understand."
Me : "Greek ?"
Client : "You can ?"
Me : "No. What's your mother tongue ?"
Client : "Italian. You can ?"
Me : "A bit. Very bit."
Client : "Ok... Chinese ?"
Me : "I can."

In the end, we speak in chinese. And he is my first european client who speaks Chinese fluently.
Even more fluently than me.

minor surgery today

Just got a very difficult case just now. A heavy infection in upper right first molar with buccal abscess. The tooth itself has 3' mobility surrounded with a lot of tartars. And based on my x-ray, it has a severe bone loss. No bones at all. I decided to treat this client with minor surgery, open flap, do curretage, bone grafting, suturing, and hopefully in next 2 days, the infection will be gone.

Last time I did this, it was 2 weeks ago, a young lady, but not with this heavy bone loss. And the treatment went very well. It gave a very good result.

For this case, it's quite a tricky and ambigous case. I can't predict the result. This kind of periodontitis can be happen with people with bad oral hygiene. So, better have regular check-up to avoid this kinda thing.

back to dental stuffs

I have done some magics to this 17 yrs old young boy. So this client came to my office 3 months ago, and here's the result in only 3 months.I will do some midline corrections when he come back from Holland to study. Client was definitely satisfied with the result since he had a very severe crowding before.

This another one is my case of today. Big cavities in both tooth number 1.5 and 1.6.

Tradaaaaa.....

I'm so lucky that most of my clients are very very nice. They don't underestimate of young dentist at all. And guess what, this morning a lady came to my office just to drop by her homemade dish for me. She was very satisfied with my cleaning + root planing treatment, so her bad breath has gone away.

If you love to make people put smile in their faces, be a dentist. I'm sure you will get amazed with very nice smiles you'd created from your own hand.

And I love that.

Got a picture from Dr. Lily from Jakarta seminar. It was during the lunch session. We had a small study group here. The waitress who took the picture for us was quite okay, fortunately her hands were not tremor at that time, so we can have a steady and no-blur photo. It was an awesome seminar since we shared a lot of clients cases there. Me, as usual, the youngest one... but gave a lot of speechs. Got also an award. But since I was going alone and nobody was familiar with my lumia, so nobody took pictures of me. But I hope the documentation committee has some pics of me and they can send it later. Actually I wanted to wear my blazer at that time, but the blazer couldn't fit in anymore :'(

This one is from Ogilvy meeting. They trained me to speak in media, newspaper and TV about invisalign compared to traditional braces. I was so nervous, since the other dentists are much older than me and they can speak very very well. They interviewed me without any scripts. Oh my God, very shy if they broadcasted me live. I do public speaking in mostly speechs, but not for taping on TV. So this will be a very good training for me then.

mini wok noodle

Saya kasih tahu dulu ya....
Kalau ini bener-bener enak !

Wah, ini sih kalo orang Singapore bilang, "die-die must try lah"
Orang Hokkien bilangnya.... "Haujek sencinping"

Mini wok noodle ini emang masakan favorit saya. Sampe bela-belain saya cari resepnya, yang ternyata sangat gampanggg.... Saya emang suka masakan tipe gini, praktis, enak, nggak ribet, gampang bikinnya. Tapi bukan fast food. Dan bukan indomie.

Tapi kalo bikinan saya sih masih nggak seenak punya foodcourt Lucky Plaza. Jadi belum pantes bikin lapak. Sementara, lapaknya ya dental clinic dulu aja deh ya...

surprise surprise

Jadi ceritanya, semalem saya pulang praktek jam 11 malam. Clients kept coming and I was too busy without realizing that it was almost midnite when i had done with all clients. Saya cuma pengen dan butuh tidur, secara besok paginya saya harus back to clinic jam 7 pagi.

So, this was it. Udah deh, saya langsung nggletak tidur sampai pagi, sampai nggak kerasa kalo gunung Kelud meletus. Gila, udah capek banget seharian mata ngeliatin gigi pasien... saya udah pasang alarm jam 6 pagi biar nggak telat ke praktekan pagi ini. Parahnya, saya kebangun jam 5.41. Pagi. Gara-gara prank calls dari entah siapa. Ya ampuuuun.... maaf2 aja ya kalau sengaja saya reject. Habis gimana lagi, saya ngerasa nggak kenal dan nomernya juga ajaib banget. Whoever you are, tolong ya pak... dokter juga manusia. And lately, i am easily tired. Jadi tolong kalau udah direject, mbok ya tahu diri...

And in the end, i was widely awake and can't sleep again. Well, goodbye my beauty sleep. Until now, i am still avoiding coffee, so i intended to have shower and prepare to go to clinic. Dan tradaa... di luar rumah udah full abu. Tebel pula. Even the sky showered some ashes.

Baru kali ini ngeliat hujan abu in real. Dulu2 waktu kena kiriman abu gunung Bromo, kayaknya nggak sampe ngeliat abu berjatuhan dari langit. Sekilas sih mirip hujan salju, cuma sejalanan warnanya abu-abu, that's all. Well, kind of big issue for Indonesia, surprise valentine gift from God.

Ngomong2 soal surprise, when i reached clinic this morning, there were surprise flowers from no-name (again!). Actually these were not my favourite flowers. I love sunflowers and i love yellow. But this surprise bouquet contained shocking pink and blue roses. Well, whoever you are, thank you for your kind thought to me. Oh, and also a box of chocolate ! Actually i don't eat chocolate because i don't like chocolate. But hey, i appreciate this gift. Thank you to whoever you are who had kindly sent this to me. I shared the chocolates with all my nurses and assistants. And i will put the flowers in my clinic desk. Terima kasih banget pokoknya.

Surprise letter also come from maman Andree !!! Merci bcp, maman. I love the card. Jauh-jauh belain kirim kartu dari Perancis, highly appreciate :)

Today, I have a little client named EVELYN. Wouah, she is a cute girl with a very beautiful name. She wear a shirt with big heart for me :) thank you sweetie. After finish with her treatment, i asked her to give me her big smile. And here she is...
can't wait for my own Evelyn soon :))

warm christmas greeting from Gigi Sehat Dental

Thanks to D***, my patient who wanted to look 'festive' for christmas. So I put nice christmas colours for her. Rot und gruen :)

Ooopsie... it was my gruen handschuh showed up in picture....

Now, looked better :)

She was my class II division 1 client. Severe protrusion. I remember her when she came to my clinic for the first time. D*** was an unique client. Some dentists had already given up with her case, and also some suggested her to do 4 first bicuspids extractions. She asked me for second opinion, and she was totally keen on my treatment plan.

But when I told her my price, she was crying hopelessly. In front of me ! And she told me that she will pay me in settlements, because for her, it's too expensive. Oh God, as long as the client is very cooperative, I don't mind even they don't pay me not in full price. Because the treatment will work better on cooperative clients. It's much way better than clients who didn't appreciate my treatment and always try to postpone every appointments, and in the end never show up in several months.

For this client, I have to give her 4 thumbs up for her cooperative-ness. She lives outside Surabaya where it's a very remote area. She only has motorbike, and she will need 2 hours to go + 2 hours to back everytime she goes to my clinic. And she's never missed even single appointments, and always shows up in schedule every 3 weeks. Even today is raining very hard, she's still showed up to clinic. Oh God, I'm so touched with her effort !!!

I treated her since last August, and within these 4 months, I think the result is quite good ! You are deserved to the best result for your cooperative, D*** !!!! I'm so proud of you

RIP Nelson Mandela

A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination

It always seems impossible, until it's done

Nelson Mandela

cuma sayang

This song is titled : Cuma Sayang by Nira Diana. Heard few times through radio and the melody is really-really nice.

Ingin aku berlari sejauh mungkin
Rasanya ku harus menghindarimu
Hanya sekedar menguji kesetiaan ini
Kalau memang terbukti akhirnya nanti
Aku tak pernah punya rasa rindu
Atau rasa benci dan rasa cemburu

Ah, jadi tanda tanya dalam hatiku
Apakah memang tak ada cinta

Kalau cuma kata sayang
Aku masih bisa mengatakan kepadamu
Namun aku tak mungkin memberikan kepadamu

Jangan salah mengerti atas sikapku
Bukan aku menolak cintamu
Namun aku minta waktu untuk berfikir

Walau cuma kata cinta
Aku masih takut mengatakan kepadamu
Karena selama ini aku
Cuma sayang padamu…

fracture post root canal treatment

Normally, I'm more to restoration than extraction. But today, this client came to my clinic with tooth fracture in her lower right second molar. Here it is....

This client came to me with a very surprising request : "Doc, my previous dentist suggested me to remove my wisdom tooth. But I was too afraid of surgery. Now, I'd felt pain keep coming lately when I chewed something. And also, the food impacted keeps happen like crazy. I was too afraid of surgery. But today, I guess I will go for surgery."

Ah, okay. But I saw the trouble comes from her second molar. Not the impacted one.

This is a fracture post RCT tooth. For fracture case, no other suggestion, only extraction. See what I got after extracted her tooth...

A complete fracture from mesial to distal. I did no separation at all, just removed it one by one. Started with lingual fracture, continued with the buccal one... Fortunately, no complicated fracture and I didn't find any difficulties at all. At first, she was very afraid of surgery. I told her that I will not do any wisdom tooth surgery, because the trouble comes from the second molar, not the third one, and I will not do any incision -because, it's no necessary at all, with also no separation. Already informed also that she will be treated very well under local aenesthesia. And I will do it smoothly, so she won't feel a pain even a little bit. Then, here we go with the extraction.

This is post-extraction socket. Already did curretage and suturing before she left. Spotted the white appearance from her impacted third molar's crown.

I didn't suggest for any surgery of wisdom tooth removal for this case. Not necessary at all, although it's impacted.

Sometimes, wrong diagnose came from very complicated way of thinking. Again, keep it simple. See what's in front of your eyes. Explored from what you can reach first. It's a simple way of thinking. But works a lot in my daily practice. See ? That the cause of problem was very simple. Why should make it complicated ?
